Creating a Story Using a Story Preset

Story Presets allow Field Reporters to quickly create multiple stories using pre-defined parameters set by their Insights Manager. This feature enables capturing stories anytime, even offline, without needing a Story Invitation.

  • Field Reporters: Aiming to capture stories without needing to wait for an invitation from Insight Leads.

  • Field Reporter role assigned
  • Story Preset access assigned by your Insights Lead

What is a Story Preset?

A Story Preset is a predefined structure that allows for seamless story creation without requiring an invitation. Using a Story Preset, you can:

  • Generate stories independently without waiting for a Story Invitation.
  • Capture stories offline, ensuring content can be recorded anywhere, anytime.

Finding Your Story Preset

Option 1: On Your Home Page

  1. Sign in to your Folktale account.
  2. Navigate to your Home page.
  3. Click the Create tab to view available Story Presets.

Option 2: On Your My Stories Page

  1. Go to your My Stories page.
  2. Scroll to the Presets section to find all assigned Story Presets.

Note: Story Presets automatically sync when connected to the internet. If multiple presets exist for different projects, they appear in the order they were created.

Creating a Story Using a Story Preset

  1. Select the preset you want to use.
  2. If you are on your Home page, tap the preset to begin.
  3. If you are on your My Stories page, tap Create Story.
  4. Review the preset details by tapping About this contribution.
  5. Start recording your story.

  6. If you prefer to record later, tap Back to My Stories to save your progress.

Offline Access: If you do not have an internet connection, you can still access the Create Story button and begin recording.

Managing Pending Stories

  • Stories created from a preset remain local to your device until uploaded.
  • Pending stories will appear in the Pending section with an ON DEVICE label.
  • To resume recording, open the preset from My Stories and follow the submission guide.
