Signing out of Your Folktale Account

This guide walks you through logging out of your Folktale account or Guest account while ensuring you don’t lose unsaved data.

📍 Who is this for?

This guide is for all Folktale users who need to sign out safely. It covers:

  • Signing out of Folktale user accounts and Guest accounts
  • Preventing data loss before signing out
  • Managing sign-outs across multiple devices

🔑 What permissions are needed?

  • No special permissions are required to sign out.
  • Guest users should upgrade to a user account to retain access after signing out.

Step One: Go to the Sign Out Page

  1. Tap your profile icon at the top-right corner of your screen.
  2. Select Sign Out.

💡  If you're logged in on multiple devices, check the box "Also sign out from everywhere that I am signed in" before confirming.

Step Two: Ensure You Don't Lose Unsaved Data

⚠️  Before signing out, upload all clips to avoid data loss.

  1. Open your in-progress story on your My Stories page.
  2. If you see an Upload Pending banner at the bottom, tap on it and press Upload All Changes Now.

Alternative Upload Method

  • Scroll down to find the Upload and Build Preview button.
  • Tap it to ensure your clips are uploaded before signing out.

Step Three: Sign Out

⚠️  Guest Account Warning

  • If you are using a Guest account, signing out will permanently delete your account and revoke access to submitted stories.
  • To retain access, upgrade to a user account by linking an email address or adding a passkey.
  1. Once all clips have been uploaded, press Sign Out.
  2. You have successfully logged out of your account.
