Introduction to Folktale Academy

A guide for all Folktale users who want to develop their storytelling and filming skills.

🎯 Who is this for? This guide is for any Folktale user who wants to access learning resources. You must be signed in to Folktale to reach Folktale Academy.

Overview

Folktale Academy is a free library of over 50 self-paced video courses covering camera confidence, interviewing techniques, filming skills, and storytelling ethics. It is accessible directly from your Folktale dashboard on desktop and mobile.

Step One: Go to Folktale Academy

  1. Sign in to your Folktale account.
  2. On desktop: click Folktale Academy in the left navigation panel. On mobile: tap the menu button in the top left, then tap Folktale Academy.

Step Two: Select a topic

  1. Browse the topic list.
  2. Click a topic's title or thumbnail to open it.
  3. You will see a list of courses under that topic. Click a course title or thumbnail to open it.

Step Three: Start the course

  1. Click the video to start. Playback works like a standard video player.
  2. Scroll down to browse other courses under the same topic.
  3. To return to the full topic list, click the topic title at the top of the page.

💡 Tip: To share a lesson, click the Copy link button in the upper right of the video player.
