Who Owns the Story on Folktale?

Understanding Story Ownership, Licensing, and Data Usage on Folktale

Who owns my story?

When you create and submit a story on Folktale, you retain ownership of your content. Your story remains your intellectual property, including any copyright elements within it. This means that any text, images, videos, or other creative content you include in your story are still yours, and you hold the rights to them.

How is the Story Licensed to the Workspace?

By submitting your story to Folktale, you grant Folktale Global Pty Ltd a license to use, edit, and compile your content. This license is necessary for Folktale to provide its services, such as content editing and compilation. Additionally, Folktale requires that you ensure any other individuals whose copyrighted content or personally identifiable information (PII) appears in your story have given their consent for Folktale to use this information as well. This licensing arrangement is outlined in Folktale’s End User License Agreement and Privacy Policy.

How is the Data Used?

Folktale uses the data collected from stories to help organizations understand and demonstrate their impact through qualitative insights. The platform supports various roles, including Admins, Insights Leads, Field Reporters, Coordinators, Contributors, and Viewers, each with specific permissions to create, submit, manage, and view stories within a workspace.

The data collected can include both creative content and PII. Folktale ensures that all data, including PII, is handled securely and in compliance with privacy regulations. This data is stored in secure servers and is only accessible to authorized personnel within your organization’s workspace.

Summary

While you maintain ownership of your story and its content, Folktale requires a license to use this material to deliver its services. The data collected through Folktale is used to provide valuable insights and facilitate impactful decision-making, all while ensuring privacy and security are maintained.
