Check and amend video, microphone and location permissions

How to troubleshoot the camera, microphone or location permissions on your device

Overview

The first time you use Folktale to record a video, you'll be asked to allow Folktale to access your camera, microphone or location permissions.

The prompt will look something like this:

💡 The prompt may look slightly different from device to device.

For iPhones

  1. Whilst on the record screen, press the camera icon to the bottom left of the address bar (it looks like ‘AA’). From the menu that pops up, select Website Settings.

  2. At the bottom of the screen, there should be a section labeled ALLOW PORTAL.FOLKTALE.IO TO ACCESS. There, you will find listed options for Camera, Microphone and Location. To the right of these will be the preference that is currently selected.

  3. To modify these, tap them to bring up a list of options (Ask, Deny, Allow). Ensure that you have selected Allow for each of these options.

For Android devices

  1. Whilst on the record screen, tap the padlock icon on the upper left of the address bar. On the menu that appears, select Permissions.

  2. Ensure that permission for Location, Camera, Microphone and Sound are all set to Allowed by clicking the toggle button next to each.
