A guide for Admins or Insights Managers to understand 3 different collection methods available in Folktale
Overview
In Folktale, Admins or Insights Managers are able to collect stories using 3 different collection methods:
- Story Invitation: Invite individual contributors directly via email to submit their stories.
- Community Link: Collect stories from a broad group of individuals with a shareable link.
- Story Preset: Enable Field Reporters to record and submit multiple stories to your workspace whenever and wherever they choose.
Story Invitation
A Story Invitation is sent to contributors by an Admin or an Insights Manager inviting them to record and submit a story.
The invitation clearly defines the type of story the contributor is being invited to share, how the story will be used, and when the story must be contributed.
An Admin or an Insights Manager can set a timeframe for the invitation and contributors must submit their stories before it expires.
The invitation can be sent directly to contributors via email or shared via a Community Link.

Community Link
A Community Link is a unique URL generated for a Story Invitation. This link allows the invitation to be easily shared so that anyone can access and contribute a story without being invited.
This will help an Admin or an Insights Manager to gather stories more efficiently from a larger community, eliminating the time and effort to individually invite each participant.
Using the Community Link, contributors can submit a story without signing up. They can contribute their stories as a Guest or with their Folktale account.
To generate a Community Link, you need to create a Story Invitation. Learn to create a Story Invitation.
Story Preset
A Story Preset is a feature that allows an Admin or an Insights Manager to define a story's template, timing, and terms so that Field Reporters can capture multiple story contributions wherever and whenever they choose.
A Field Reporter can use a Story Preset to capture stories from themselves or others. They can:
- Generate stories ad-hoc without having to wait for a Story Invitation.
- Create stories even when they are offline, meaning that stories can be captured anywhere, anytime.
Once created, a Field Reporter can access the preset from their My Stories page and submit as many stories as they need until the Admin or the Insights Manager disable the preset from the workspace.
