Recording Shots Using More Than One Device

How to Navigate Between Devices to Capture Your Folktale Story

This guide is for Contributors and Field Reporters who need to switch between devices while recording their Folktale stories.

It walks you through how to record on one device, upload your footage, and continue recording on another device without losing your progress.

📍   Who is this for? Contributors and Field Reporters recording across multiple devices (e.g., desktop to mobile).

🔑 What permissions are needed?

  • You must be signed in to Folktale.
  • You must have an assigned role in Folktale

Step 1: Record Your Story

Once you have received an invitation, you are ready to start recording your first shot.

  1. Press the Shutter button once to begin recording.
  2. Press the Shutter button again to stop.
  3. Your shot will be saved on your current device.

💡  To access your shot on a different device, you must first upload it to Folktale.

Step 2: Upload and Build Preview

To upload your shot:

  1. Go back to the Create Your Story page by pressing the Home button.
  2. Scroll down and find the Upload and Build Preview button.
  3. Press Upload and Build Preview.

📌  The upload process may take a few minutes. Once complete, you can switch to another device.

Step 3: Change Your Device

Once you switch devices:

  1. Go to portal.folktale.io and sign in.
  2. You will be taken to your My Stories page.
  3. Press the story title to open the Create Your Story page.
  4. Your previously recorded shot will be available.
  5. You're now ready to record your next shot on the new device!
