Understanding Offline Mode in Folktale

Offline Mode in Folktale ensures you can continue capturing and working on stories without an internet connection. Whether you're in a remote location or experiencing connectivity issues, Offline Mode allows you to create and save stories until you’re back online. This guide walks you through how to prepare, what you can do offline, and key considerations for using this feature effectively.

What Can You Do Offline?

There are two main components you can work with while offline:

  1. Stories in Progress – These are stories you have already started by accepting a story invitation, self-requesting a story, or using a story preset.
  2. Story Presets – These templates allow you to start new stories even while offline.

Preparing for Offline Mode

To ensure you have access to your stories and presets offline, follow these steps:

1. Sync Your Data

  • Visit the Home page on the device and browser you plan to use offline.
  • Simply visiting this page will automatically sync the latest stories in progress and story presets to that device/browser.

2. Verify Your Data

  • Before going offline, check your Home page.
  • Ensure that the Create tab and the Drafts tab contain the expected story presets and stories in progress.

Important Considerations

  • Do Not Log Out – Stay logged in on the device and browser you will use offline.
  • Use the Same Device and Browser – Offline content is only available on the device and browser where it was synced.
  • Testing Offline Mode – To test your offline content, enable Airplane Mode on your device and visit portal.folktale.io .

Limitations of Offline Mode

  • Story Invitations – You cannot accept new story invitations while offline. Make sure to accept any invitations before going offline.

Defining Offline Mode

In Folktale, "offline" means that your device has a local copy of the necessary data. If you cannot reach Folktale online, it will automatically use this local copy without requiring any action from you.

By following these guidelines, you can continue your storytelling seamlessly, even without an internet connection. If you have any questions or need further assistance, feel free to reach out to our support team.
